Recap - Innovative solutions for chronic diseases
75% of the people with a chronic condition making use of telehealth solutions within the next 5 years!
It is the ambition of the Dutch ministry of Health, Wellbeing and Sport that 75% of the people with a chronic disease like Heart Failure, Diabetes, COPD, and frail elderly who are able and willing, will perform independent measurements within the next five years, mostly in combination with remote monitoring by a caregiver.
By doing so they can monitor the progress of their illness and via
regular feedback get insight into the impact of their behavior on their illness. By making this easy and attractive for the people it will help to enhance compliance.
Aims of the Ministry are to make sure that people have direct access to their medical data, more self-measurements and telemonitoring will be applied in the health sector for people with a chronic condition and monitor care and home automation will be within reach for everyone. This has been written in a letter from Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport in the Netherlands Edith Schippers to president of the House of Representatives.
